The scheme has enabled horse riders to get off the increasingly busy roads onto farm tracks which join up to create interesting riding routes, linking where possible to existing Public Bridleways. The Scheme is supported by Essex County Council & Local Councils
19/06/18 FORDHAM HALL- The Woodland Trust has decided that they wish to restrict access on their land and will be installing several gates and squeeze gaps to restrict riding on vulnerable routes.
The closures are due to riders not respecting the winter route closures which has resulted in several tracks being severely damaged and no longer suitable for horses. The trust is happy to promote riding on suitable routes providing riders adhere to the restrictions. Please refer to the map.
Several routes will be closed over the winter months and this will be posted on a winter map in due course. As well as this two bridle gates have been installed on the west and north of the site and will be locked over winter when the trust feels these routes as unsuitable for riding.
EAFR has done everything it can to try and keep as many routes open as possible and would appreciate riders to keep to the routes or these may be lost completely in the future.
Renewals are now due . please contact the office to receive your new yellow tag. only yellow tags will be valid after 31 March.
we would like to say a very big thank you to all farmers and landowners who agreed to open up routes over the years. We have been encouraged by their response and will now endeavour to expand the scheme in both areas already running and totally new areas.
